A History Of Folk is an introduction to the music and lives of Folk music and it’s amazing players as it has evolved from local roots to international audiences. Not only do you get an amazing collection of folk musicians and singers you get the incredible journey and stories folk music has given us over the last century.

This will be a new story to tell for Cal Williams Jr, Kory Horwood and Mary Trees. This show is an addition to A History of Blues which has been a sellout Adelaide Fringe show for 6 years.

The first installment will be focusing on British folk.

INDAILY

“Anchored by Cal Williams Jr on guitar, this journey through highlights of the Mississippi & Georgia blues is an utter delight.★★★★★– Indaily

“Cal Williams Jr’s very personal approach brings the blues alive with the trio evoking the spirit and power of the blues. There is no doubting William’s commitment, knowledge and skill and the gathered lapped up everything on offer. Thoroughly enjoyable.” – 5MBS Radio

“Legend, myth, and music – we catch it all in A History of Mississippi and Georgia Blues with the Cal Williams Jr Blues Trio. Cal Williams Jnr gives a marvellous rapid-fire history entwined throughout the music. We are in good hands going down the Mississippi!”-Radio Adelaide

“Cal Williams Jr not only knows his stuff but he is an excellent performer and this was a top show. Cal is a fine fingerstyle guitarist with great support from his bassist and percussionist, there were some great bass solos, adding much to the programme. Bring him back for Fringe 2022!” – 5MBS Radio

“As well as being a fine musician, and gathering equally fine ones around him, Williams knows how to talk to an audience, introducing songs with interesting facts and stories. These gigs are a musical delight, and quirkily educational. Passion and knowledge ooze out of every pore.”-GLAMAdelaide

“Williams’ sterling artistry on acoustic guitar, Kory Horwood on double bass and tea-chest bass, and Mary Tréès on percussion is a tight unit and they clearly enjoy the show. The danceable rhythm of Willie Brown’s ‘Ragged and Dirty’ was a great way for Cal Williams Jr’s trio to usher in a delightful performance of Mississippi blues songs. They hooked the full audience right there and kept them hooked.” ★★★★★
